FAQs & Facts
A Marvel of Engineering
Finding a glass blower that could figure out how to make these was challenging. It took lots of communication only to be told it was impossible. After months of no luck, we finally found a factory that not only said no problem, but delivered exactly what we were hoping for! Now, it sounds kinda crazy, but once you have a LiquiSlide in your hand, you'll be mesmerized by it. It's basically a slide within a slide with a hollow chamber between them that we fill with liquid. The small air bubble we purposely leave in every LiquiSlide turns it into a fidget spinner. You can move the air bubble around the inside of the slide for a satisfying visual. It's hard to explain... you think a slide is just a slide. Then you get one of these in your hands and the reaction we get is that people never expected a slide could be so cool! Not only does it sound and feel fantastic but it's fun to think about the magic behind the construction.
What's it filled with?
Great question! For any slide that isn't filled with a premixed liquid (like Jagermeister), we start with 50% water and an equal amount of either Rubbing Alcohol or Propylene Glycol which lowers the freezing point. We made this switch after having some slides freeze and shatter while in shipping during the winter. Live and learn! We then add basic food coloring to the mix and that's it!
Let's address the Elephant in the Room...
Ok, LiquiSlides are made of glass. Heavy duty borosilicate glass, but glass nonetheless. So, using common-sense when handling them goes a LONG way. Try not to drop it because when you drop glass, it often breaks! I personally have dropped them dozens of times and have yet to break one... I have broken them by accidentally hitting them too hard on a table while checking for leaks; a quick round of light-torture I put each slide through before shipping. I have broken numerous Pyrex slides over the years, though... It's just part of the deal when you play with glass slides!
A Quick Word about Color in reality vs. on a screen...
There are many X-factors when it comes to the color of something on a screen vs the color of the same object in your hand. From lighting, to the camera, to photo processing, to bluelight filters on your screen, there are many variables that can account in these differences. In our case, we are shooting curved glass objects that are filled with dye, it's tricky to say the least! We do our best to make sure our colors look as close to the pics as possible but there is some variety. Should your slide show up with a drastically different color than what you expected, no worries! Just message us and we'll get one that IS the right color on it's way ASAP! Again, things happen, and it's all about how they are dealt with!
There is a Bump on the Edge of my LiquiSlide! What Gives?
LiquiSlide is manufactured with an "injection port" in the ridge that separates the two walls. We use a syringe to inject the fluid, and then a UV cured glass glue to seal it. The injection ports vary in size and shape so in order to get the best seal on them, we often apply an extra layer of glue on the ridge which can feel like a small bump. This is perfectly normal and not a manufacturing defect. We developed this technique after filling hundreds of slides. And hey, if you the feel of the bump bothers you, just spin the slide until the bump is facing away from your hand!
Do you have it in *fill in color here?
If you'd like a specific color that you don't see on our shop, send us a message via the chat window below and we can talk! We can dial in a color to your specific needs for an upcharge. Usually, a custom color slide costs an extra $5 or $10 bucks.
Is it the slide itself or the liquid that is colored?
The liquids are colored. This allows us to endlessly come up with and tweak colors. We can even make a custom color just for YOU! So, if you order an empty LiquiSlide, it will be clear glass as we cannot colorize and empty slide.

There's an air bubble in my LiquiSlide! Why?
We discovered that if we fill a LiquiSlide completely, the slide becomes entirely one color and you can't actually tell it's filled with liquid! If you want a slide filled 100%, send us a message and we'll do it in whichever color you want! The air bubble also turns LiquiSlide into a fidget spinner. You can watch the bubble slide around the inside of the slide when you move it. It's exceptionally addictive!
